Tottenham Manager Frank Calls Vicario Critics 'Not True Real Supporters'
The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on the Manager
Spurs supporters who jeered keeper Vicario were told later "they can't be real Tottenham supporters" by boss Frank.
Tottenham conceded a pair of scores in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth Premier League home defeat of the year.
But the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's next goal when Vicario gave away possession far beyond his box.
He ventured out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball towards the touchline.
However, instead of booting it into touch, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six yards.
Moments afterwards when the ball went to Vicario again, some Spurs supporters jeered him.
The team were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.
A particular of those booing episodes really angered the manager.
"It came to my attention some of our fans reportedly booed the situation and jeered after, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Dane commented about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.
"Those individuals cannot be true Tottenham fans that do that. Alright booing following the game, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting each other, we are behind each other moving ahead."
Kenny Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute lead before Harry Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second-half showing.
Ex- Premier League keeper Hart stated that the second score was "completely avoidable".
"I do understand the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the part Vicario is playing. He's a excellent team player, he is a true leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your actions.
"He was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the decisive goal."
'It is In the Game, I'm a Big Man'
Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario After the Match
Italian international Vicario is in his 3rd season with Spurs.
The 29-year-old said following the game that he had to take the criticism.
"That score was a mistake of mine, I accept responsibility for it," he commented.
"The intent was to kick the ball long and I simply struck the ball in a bad way. It was an more difficult challenge to overcome."
He stated being booed "is part of football".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "The team can't be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.
"It's on us to stay more composed, to concentrate on our own performance. We are lacking in calmness and poise to overturn results. This match is a poor loss and it's tough to accept."
'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Line'
In spite of Vicario's error, it was not an simple score for Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the second longest-range top division score of the campaign – after Adams' 43.3 yard goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which incidentally also came on the same day.
Wilson stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an empty net to target.
Ten moments elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson shooting – which was five seconds following the clearance.
"I felt like the keeper was out of the area for a long time," Wilson remarked.
"I was surprised none of the defenders returned to the line. When not one of them defended the goal, my interest lit up a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a bit of extra time. Then it was all about trying to make the right connection and place it on target. I felt a positive feeling, as soon as it left my boot, that it was on the right line."
'During in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager
While Vicario's error led coverage, this was an overall poor day for Tottenham to extend their home ground woes.
This was their 10th at home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a shared team record matching 1994 and 2003.
The side still have home games against the manager's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to play prior to the close of the season.
Only one of those victories have occurred after the manager took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated Frank.
"When you're in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you too – the first was a redirected attempt, the next is a error from Vic.
"This result puts us in a position where we have lost another match. Every game has a single story, today we were defeated in the early stages.
"We just need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully something we can utilize to develop."
Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.
And they are recording 9.5 shots and three point two shots on target per game in the Premier League – their poorest averages on record in a one campaign (since at least the 2003-04 season).
Former Fulham midfielder Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.
"He must take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He has accepted a high profile job at a huge team with massive expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.
"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
