Fans Call for Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are calling for that a person who breached a barricade and touched the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A viral clip reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside photographers and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being taken in", though court documents showed that he was set to attend court on the next day. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile features clips of him disrupting other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney concert in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last December.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is evidently a punishable act," wrote an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed experiencing PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented another response on Instagram.
Some supporters also criticised event staff at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while others requested digital services to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In clips circulating online, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Numerous of attendees had gathered in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore mall, including a number who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The movie, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-part interpretation of the well-known theatrical production Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful film of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten Oscar nominations, earning several for excellent wardrobe and production design.
